FAQ

What is the difference between Medical Marijuana and recreational marijuana?

Medical cannabis requires a doctor's recommendation for a qualifying medical problem before you can access, purchase, or consume cannabis and cannabis products. Recreational cannabis, on the other hand, is still illegal in the state of Florida.

Medical marijuana is highly regulated by the state. Furthermore, dispensaries are required by law to have an independent, third-party lab test their products to prove they have the proper amount of active ingredients. With recreational marijuana obtained illegally, you have no idea what type of strain you are getting or if it is cut with harmful chemicals.

I have never smoked. Do I have to smoke medical marijuana?

NO! There are multiple other ways of getting medical marijuana into your system such as oils, tinctures, capsules and balms. Vaping is another method of administration that is effective and quick. While it's, generally accepted as being safe, to be fair, vaping has not been around very long, so there are no long-term studies on the safety of vaping.

Where do I get medical marijuana?

From a state-licensed dispensary. Think of a dispensary like a pharmacy, but they only deal with medical marijuana. Once you have obtained your Medical Marijuana Use Registry confirmation email, that can be used as a temporary ID card to gain access into a dispensary. There are mulitiple dispensaries and more are popping up all the time. You can look under the "Dispensary" tab to find a list.

Will I get high using medical marijuana?

People using medical marijuana do not want to get "high". They want relief from their symptoms. Physicians who are certified in making recommendations are knowledgeable about how to manipulate the active chemical in medical marijuana to avoid the psychoactive effect or the "high".

Once I get my registry card, can I grow marijuana?

NO. Possession of marijuana plant, flower or bud is ILLEGAL in Florida even if you are in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.

It is a federal agency and bound by federal laws.
